Pikmin 4 is now two years old, and is not only our favourite Pikmin title of all time, but one of our favourite titles across the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 libraries. Despite its age, it appears Nintendo is throwing fans a bone with a free title update set to hit our consoles in November.
The free title update includes a photo mode, “decor” Pikmin with unique looks and difficulty options. Players can return to the game to collect the decor Pikmin and send them to the mobile title Pikmin Bloom.
The difficulty options include an accessibility mode called “Relaxed”, which makes enemies easy to defeat and prevents them from noticing you or taking action as you walk past them, allowing you to freely explore. A “normal” mode exists as the base game’s difficulty, as well as a “Fierce” mode for those looking for an extra challenge. It appears this mode can be changed at will during gameplay.
Currently, there’s no clear indication if any kind of Switch 2 update will be available to improve resolution or frame rate. An exact date is also yet to be announced, but we can expect to see this in November at some point.
